MAMA Maternity
MAMA Maternity (Mothers and Midwives Associated) is a dedicated Maternity Centre based in Sandringham, Central Auckland.
The mothers and midwives who formed MAMA Maternity have established a comfortable, and welcoming environment for pregnant women, new mothers and their families where they can access a range of services that contribute to a healthy and happy childbearing experience.
There are now over 20 midwives providing Lead Maternity Carer services to women in the Central Auckland suburbs based at MAMA Inc. Women come to MAMA Inc for their pregnancy check-ups with their chosen midwife. MAMA is also home to childbirth educators offering Birth and Parenting Preparation classes including hypnobirthing and a variety of qualified and experienced complementary health care practitioners offering acupuncture, osteopathy, naturopathy and massage to women and their whanau. MAMA hires out seminar rooms to teachers of pregnancy and postnatal yoga, baby massage and First Aid for children and provides meeting space for groups like La Leche League and the Auckland Homebirth Community.
Essential to MAMA’s survival is the online Baby Supplies Shop selling a carefully curated stock inventory of quality, reasonably priced baby supplies. MAMA receives no public funding so proceeds from shop sales help us to pay our rent the other costs associated with keeping this maternity facility for Auckland midwives, mothers, fathers and their babies up and running.
